In recent years the PCA England Masters concept has been extended to schools, with King’s College Taunton, Magdalen College School and Stamford School all hosting the legends over the course of the last few summers.

The format of these events is very similar to those hosted by recreational clubs (full details here) with corporate lunch, Q&A session, coaching masterclasses and competitive(!) t20 game, often against the schools’ first XI or a team of ‘old boys’. As with the club games, the main focus is usually to raise money, often for sports tours, equipment and coaching. However, there are other benefits to schools in particular of hosting the legends, including:

  • Showcase the school and sports department to parents, prospective parents and supporters
  • Give the school’s current and former cricket talent an opportunity to perform in front of a large crowd
  • Raise money for local charities, developing links within the community
  • Spend time interacting and playing with international cricketers
  • Mark anniversaries or special occasions
  • Host a memorable day for pupils, teachers, parents and guests to enjoy, which can become a regular fixture in the school calendar

Dedicated contacts from the PCA will be there every step of the way, providing support and guidance to help make your day a success. Hosting the PCA England Masters is a unique opportunity to engage with both the school and wider community, and enjoy an unforgettable day.

Should you wish to have the legends join your pupils at your school, but don’t feel a full PCA England Masters game is right for you, we would be happy to discuss the options of players attending for smaller masterclasses, inter-school tournaments or general school visits.
